Bio

Olympic Gold medallist, successful Motivational Speaker and Business Coach, Greg Searle shot to fame on 2nd August 1992 in Barcelona when, aged 20 he and his brother, Jonny ‘The Searle Brothers’, produced an extraordinary sprint finish to win, what many describe, as one of the greatest rowing races of all time.

After retiring from rowing in 2000 and during his 9 year break from the sport, Greg took part in the famous thrilling America’s Cup Challenger Series as a grinder – powering the winches that are used to hoist and trim sails on a boat.  Maintaining his fitness levels, he took part in the London Marathon and London Triathlon, reaching the final of the BBC’s Superstars series.

He became a director of Lane4, a company established by the former Olympic swimming champion Adrian Moorhouse that imparts lessons learned in sport to the business community.  In 2012 the draw of a home GB Olympic Games proved too much to resist for the 40 year old, who came out of retirement in 2009 to draw on his strength and determination to compete on home soil, winning a bronze medal at Dorney with the rowing men’s eights.

Greg wrote his biography and literary account of his Olympic quest.  His book ‘If Not Now, When?’ was published in e-book form just 15 days after his amazing return to the Olympics after a twenty year break.

In recognition of his achievements, Greg became one of the youngest recipients of an MBE aged 20, announced in the 1993 honours list.

Greg enjoys speaking to a broad range of clients in the corporate and public sector.  His speeches draw upon his experience of elite performance with an incredible 20 year span, to help his audience understand how they can change their own behaviour to deliver better results.  Often using sporting analogies and delivering his speeches in an engaging, entertaining and often humorous way Greg provides thought provoking and relevant business messages.  He offers a range of topics including Culture, Collaboration, Resilience, Dealing with change, Emotional Connection & Engagement and Teamwork

Shell UK C&P Team

“We really enjoyed the day with Greg who brought some very interesting and relevant insights to the Shell Contracting and Procurement Team. Greg’s manner and style was very professional and he very much inspired the audience. He left us with great food for thought, allowing us to think of our challenges in a similar way to that of a successful athlete. His presentation was much enjoyed by everyone.”

Telefonica

“Greg’s style is very natural and he’s an excellent communicator with great pace and gravitas. He surpassed our expectations - he met the brief brilliantly and brought our learning agilities to life in such an inspiring way but with humour and humility. He was both inspiring and thought provoking and we are so pleased we booked him for our event as he created a huge buzz throughout the day.”
