Bio

Jodie Hill was initially called to the Bar by The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in 2010, then cross-qualified to become a Solicitor in 2013. Following a mental breakdown (which Jodie now describes as her “mental breakthrough”), in 2018 she established Thrive Law, the first law firm in the UK founded on wellbeing, diversity, inclusion and belonging. It is these values that underpin Thrive's approach to both its clients and colleagues, practicing law differently, in a space where people matter. With her forward-thinking and innovative approach to law, Jodie has been disrupting the legal sector by creating a uniquely positioned firm that assists organisations in getting the very best from their biggest asset, their people. Jodie’s vision and ambition have been recognised regionally and nationally by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, The Law Society and through a variety of prestigious awards.

The co-founder of The Case Law Portal, Jodie has created this portal and book to assist people in valuing discrimination claims.

Jodie is also a Law lecturer at Leeds Beckett University and an active member of the Law Society’s Employment Law Committee, a Law Care Champion and the Chair of This is Me Yorkshire. She is a passionate Mental Health and Diversity & Inclusion advocate, and in 2019 campaigned for the government to make Mental Health First Aiders mandatory in all workplaces, which resulted in a parliamentary debate (at the point of writing, a second reading of the Bill has passed with no objections!). As a result of this passion she has created her own journal to share her experience on how best to manage wellbeing.

Jodie is a passionate public speaker and trainer on Wellbeing, Mental Health, Resilience, Employment Law and her journey with ADHD.  She also regularly appears as a leading expert on these matters on national and regional TV and radio, including Radio 4 & 5, Sky News, Channel 4, BBC World News, ITV and Channels 4’s ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’.

Rachel Oates, CFFC event

“I've hear Jodie speak several times and she always leaves me inspired on how to work on my work life balance. She has spoken at our CFFC event for Professional Advisors about the return to the office, and not surprisingly as she is a trail blazer gave so much value through the ideas she suggested to the businesses on the call. She is a brilliant speaker because she delivers intelligent content in an enthusiastic yet professional and accessible manner. As well as being a top class speaker, her passion oozes out of her in her desire to grow her organisation by looking after her team to enable her to be able to make a positive impact in the world. She is making such a valuable contribution to our community and for that, we are thankful.”

KPMG

“Jodie delivered a virtual session to the KPMG BeMindful network on her role as the founder of This is Me Yorkshire and Storytelling. She shared the story of her own mental health journey, encompassing her highs and her lows, with great openness and fortitude. Jodie's passion for promoting positive mental health at work is clear, she speaks authentically and with great zeal on the topic. She left us with some helpful, practical ideas about how we can take this initiative further and signposted us to some excellent TiM resources too. The session got oodles of positive feedback and we'd love to welcome Jodie back to share our progress once we've had a chance to put some of her good ideas to work - thank you for taking time out to speak to us Jodie.”

MD, Willsmer Wagg Ltd

“I recently attended a Mental Health Seminar which was run by Jodie and Dr Sarah Hattam of Concilio Health. The seminar was attended by mainly business owners and staff highlighting awareness of mental health in the work place and was run by our trade association the BPMA. Jodie and Sarah were extremely knowledgeable on such a wide subject and left us with a wealth of information to start thinking about our own business and staff needs. I would recommend attending a similar seminar and using other services offered.”
