Bio

Jez’s childhood spent in the countryside and a background in healthcare each made an impression on him that fuelled his desire to explore how human behaviour and wellbeing benefit from a greater connection with the natural world.  Jez is passionate about how small changes to the way we think can produce extraordinary results; inspired by the impact nature has on our health, wellbeing and behaviour.

In 2016, after more than a decade as a behaviour insight advisor and speaker in the corporate sector, Jez moved from his suburban 3-bed semi to a dilapidated 1850’s farmhouse in Lincolnshire with agricultural land to test his theories on the cognitive and emotional impact of nature on human psychology.  He describes his journey to renovate it as “hands down the worst thing I’ve ever done in my life, but equally the most rewarding”.  Jez turned the experience into a multi-award winning organic farm and the world’s first certified Carbon Neutral honey farm, home to the native British honeybee.

Before Jez embarked on his farm project he spent ten years working with businesses worldwide as a Behaviour Insight Advisor where he carved a career delivering keynote presentations and workshops at conferences for some of the world’s most recognisable brands.

Jez’s reputation is built on his ability to explore complicated topics in an accessible way with tremendous honesty, clarity, warmth and humour. For over a decade he has been invited to speak at conferences and events in more than 14 countries including the world’s largest corporations - Dell, Pfizer, Kraft and Volkswagen.  His uniquely entertaining, inspiring and informative style making him a firm favourite for organisations requiring a keynote speaker with lasting impact.

Jez is Tedx Speaker in the UK and USA and co-host of the Gardening podcast Roots, Wings & Other Things. He has been a guest presenter on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen, and ITV1’s James Martin’s Saturday Morning.  An award-winning writer, Jez’s books include Flip the Switch and two childrens’ books: Zooster McFlooster & the Very Big Sneeze and The Sock Thief. His articles and features have appeared in titles as diverse as The Daily Telegraph,  CNN, Liz Earle Wellbeing and BBC Countryfile magazines.

Jez believes interaction with nature is a hugely overlooked cause of most of the challenges workforces face today. Never has a topic been more timely or relevant.  Evidence shows us that nature is good for us, so why is this truth often seen as irrelevant in the workplace – and how can we change that?

In his highly engaging and fascinating presentation, Jez provides a striking insight into human behaviour and why we do what we do, positioning change as a natural opportunity to adapt and evolve. He helps individuals and teams see that nature and industry are not in opposition, and how to thrive in a post-pandemic world by drawing on lessons from nature.

Jez’s unique keynote presentation is available live or streamed virtually from his professional broadcast studio on the farm, teaching delegates surprising lessons from within the natural world that can be applied to business, with remarkable effect:

  • Why lessons from nature are more relevant than ever before, expanding on the draw of nature witnessed during the pandemic.

  • Jez explains that there is no such thing as a “new normal”, and the post-pandemic workplace needs to evolve along with people’s newfound connection with nature, applying that to bottom-line benefit.

  • Jez’s LEAF model and 5 pillars for change will help you better understand, and change, both your own behaviour and that of others.

  • He explores how science has been drawing from nature for centuries (for example, using biomimicry to design materials, structures and systems using lessons from nature) and suggests that corporations could thrive by doing the same for their people.
